DECOMPOSITION OF FLOTATION PROCESS – PRECONDITION FOR MATHEMATICAL MODELING

ABSTRACT

Within Kosova’s flotation plants, but also in many flotation’s in the region, process
control is realized based on empiric data. Creation of one mathematical model, with
which can be determined quantitative and qualitative values of flows, is the main goal of
this paper. Flotation process that is realized in the heterogeneous, dispersive and multiphase
medium and by nature is fully dynamic. This causes that the steady – state
parameters are different from prior parameters. With decomposition of technological
scheme, based on case study of “Trepça” flotation plant is formed mathematical model of
flotation process of lead section. Created model have universal nature and can be applied
in similar processes. Special part of model, the constraints of metal flows in the waste
outflows from contours, should be defined with experiments in laboratory, processing lab
or in the process (using EVOP method).
