ABSTRACT

This article deals with a conflict between the exploitation of mineral resources and
nature protection at the study area of gravel mining lakes in the floodplain of the
Morava River near the town of Tovačov (central Moravia, Czech Republic), which was
solved in the frame of environmental impact assessment. It presents a concept of the
compromise solution to this conflict, based on land-use research with application of
principals of restoration ecology.
