ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to determine the levels of blast-induced vibrations at Bayırköy town situated in the boundary of Beşikdüzü and being said to be affected by the blasting generated at Korkuthan Quarry being located at the edge of Akhisar Brook in Beşikdüzü in Trabzon. Korkuthan Quarry has assured riprap materials for filling the sea and sea fortification for the construction of Espiye-Çarşıbaşı coastal highway (including Giresun coastal highway) at the scope of The Black Sea Coastal Way Rehabilitation Project attributed to be an open university containing sea fortifications, the coastal motorway, tunneling, blasting, harbours, bridges, art constructions, slope studies etc.
In the scope of the study, two quarries operated by bench blasting and one by coyote blasting were observed and examined on site, and blast events’ measurements were taken at four different location set before on Bayırköy at different places and distances approximately 1125-1625 m to blast field and a blast design was developed not being able to generate a vibration level causing a ground movement at the site and offered to the companies.
