ABSTRACT
In this work, the horizontal failure loads acting in the wall plane and the shear
strengths of the walls constructed using solid batch bricks are studied by considering
various types of bond arrangements and the results are discussed. For this purpose the
samples are produced using simple running bond and polonez bond. In the experimental
study is carried out using the procedure proposed in ASTM 1391-81 for the standard
shear stress of masonry walls. The observed behavior of the experimental samples and
the cracks occurred are studied, the shear stress and horizontal load-displacement graphs
are plotted. A numerical model is analyzed using the ANSYS software and the results
are compared with the experimental ones.
