EARLY PLIOCENE (RUSCINIAN) RODENTS (MAMMALIA) FROM THE LIGNITES ELBISTAN (TURKEY)

ABSTRACT

Rodent fossils found in lignit establishments in Elbistan town in Maraş city are
described. Six species are identified: There are three Muridae: Apodemus dominans,
Apodemus cf. atavus and Occitanomys sp. and one Arvicolidae: Promimomys cor, one
Cricetidae: Cricetus lophidens, and one Gliridae: Myomimus sp. The Early Pliocene
rodents samples of Elbistan are of Eastern Mediterranean character.
