ABSTRACT

Through benchmarking one can get information about the performing practices in the
field of environmental policies, thus being able to try to reach its level of performance.
But the national context requires the finding of self means of achieving the performance
and performing practices. The environmental policies benchmarking has long term
effects and stimulates the learning in concerned entities. The aim is to create sustainable
prosperity. It requires common goals and use of all actors involved in the change
process. The article analyzes the cycle of the benchmarking process for an
environmental policy in Romania.
