APPLICATION OF GIS IN THE RESEARCH OF THE SPECIES QUERCUS ROBUR L. (COMMON OAK) IN KOSOVO

ABSTRACT

Since 1999 the application of GIS in Kosovo has provided valuable results. All of this
research was based on contemporary methodology on space research with GIS. In this
case, within the inventory of the flora of Kosovo, is explored Common oak (Quercus
robur L.), taking into account its biological aspect and modern methods of research with
GIS. GIS has enabled the analysis of sea level height with the help of Digital relief
model (Digital Elevation Model-DEM), exposition, angle of fall and the correlation of
natural conditions and links between specific types. The results obtained have shown
that GIS can be applied very well in the case of research on specific types of plant.
