ABSTRACT
This paper is focused on the sulphur and sulphur forms distribution in the Antonin coal
seam at Jiri and Druzba open-cast mines in the North Bohemian brown coal basin, in the
Czech Republic. Briefly describes the basic geological structure of the area, deals with
sulphur forms, sulphur genesis, chemism, coal sampling and analysis from the
exploration boreholes. Overall 32 coal samples were precisely analyzed. The results of
this analysis were used for the construction of the graphic outputs. Based on these
results, the hypotheses of sulphur distribution are confronted with the real situation. The
coal produced is used for energetic purposes.
