ABSTRACT
Electromagnetic (EM) methods are among geophysical methods which have many
various applications. Besides, EM surveys are carried out rapidly with low costs. Thus,
they are being fast developed. The methods, compared to other geophysical methods,
have the most various acquisition systems. EM surveys can be carried out in the land,
air, sea and borehole. During 1950s in Canada, airborne EM methods, in which
helicopter EM (HEM) method is also included, have assisted in mineral exploration
valued more than 10 milliard dollars. Considering over-increasing development of
mineral exploration in Iran and availability of frequency-domain HEM acquisition
systems, HEM surveys have been or are being carried out in different locations of the
country. One of these locations is Rabat town area, in Kurdistan province, in which
considerable gold deposits have been found. In this paper, the authors have attempted to
use geological information and frequency-domain HEM data acquired using DIGHEM
system from the area, and then, applying Siemon’s modeling method, to present depth
sections from several survey lines, in which probable presence of metallic
mineralization is investigated.
