ABSTRACT

Inclined sites in Bulgaria envisaged for building construction often fall into landslide
and potentially sliding areas. This may lead to two main issues: the first one is how to
make the foundation pit so that no land sliding is being instigated; the second issue is
what measures should be taken in order for the building to play the role of an antisliding
structure. The solution of these two issues is illustrated by case studies. A
concept and recommendations for preventive abatement of landslide processes in the
construction of buildings in inclined sites have been drawn up.
