ABSTRACT
During the research of the oak forest in Kosovo, we conclude that in the past years the infection frequency of these forests is increased with the species hemiparasitic Loranthus europaeus L. In order to research this occurrence, we chose 12 locations with the oak tree in Southeastern of Kosovo dominated by the species Quercus petraeea(Mattus.) Liebl. There are sites where these species Quercus cerris L. and Quercus frainetto Ten are also present. On the north and northeastern exposure the growth of the beech Fagus moesiaca (K. Maly) Hayek is very well developed. The researched area is
700-1000 m above the sea level. The infection level of the Gollak’s forests (Grashtica)
with the species hemiparasitic Loranthus europeus L. was researched during the years
2008-2010. The research of above parameters are expressed as an average value (X) and
the statistical processing was done. Species hemiparasitic Loranthus europaeus L was found in three species of Fagaceae Family: Quercus petraea, Quercus cerris and Quercus frainetto and only in one case to the species Crataegus monogyna that belongs
to the Rosaceae Family. The highest infection frequency was to the species Quercus petraea 14.65 %, then to species Quercus cerris 12.87%, and Quercus frainetto 5.66%.
The infection frequency of the oak forest with the species Loranthus europaeus was directly related to the forest’s aging and its density. The infection of the forest under 30 year-old was 0%, while the infection percentage is increased parallel with the increasing
age of the trees. The floristic data are taken from: [21,14,15,16].
Keywords: Frequency, infected, hemiparasitic, Loranthus europaeus Quercus petraea, Q. cerris, Q. frainetto, Crataegus monogyna.
