ABSTRACT
The surveyed area is located at the north of the Chamchamal city, Kurdistan region in the north of Iraq. Through this survey, the area has received its first potential geophysical prospective by gravity and magnetic methods. The geophysical survey based on 401 gravity and magnetic points. These points distributed over eight profiles (four profiles for each method),along strike and dip directions. The gravity data has been corrected for several corrections to find out the Bouguer anomaly and the magnetic data is corrected for two corrections to find the total magnetic. Both gravity and magnetic data has been analyzed by several qualitative and quantitative techniques to clear the subsurface geological features. The depth of the Cretaceous rocks around between (0.78- 2)kms, and the depth of the basement rocks around between (9.9 to 10.1)kms . Tectonically , the Chamchamal anticline can be considered as an anomaly that built without the influences of the basement rocks because no vertical uplift detected from basement .
