7th International Scientific Conference - SGEM2007, www.sgem.org, SGEM2007 Conference Proceedings/ ISBN: 954-918181-2, June 11-15, 2007
ABSTRACT
In this study, first the stability of a drilled well for oil production from a
reservoir in the Asmary formation region of Iran using a finite different
numerical method was assessed. Some sections of various well plunges were
done. For each section, displacement, maximum major stresses, safety factor,
and plastic zone condition around well using the mentioned numerical method
were estimated. According to the results of the programme, summarized that
the vertical well in relation to the horizontal well was in a better condition and
in progressive of horizon the well may be unstable. Then the results of well
stability analyses in various plunges were compared. Minimum and maximum
horizontal stresses utilizing the Poro-elastic formula were calculated.
