ABSTRACT
Most of water resources in Iran are flowing in the west, south-west, north districts of
country and, on the other hand, providing of water the central districts of Iran, for a long
term, had been a critical problem to Iran water industry since long ago. Accordingly,
many water transferring projects have been proposed between different zones to remove
this problem. Transferring water from of Dez river to central districts of Iran is one of
these projects that water transfer tunnel from Anvaj river to Qomrud is its main part.
The main goal of this project is to providing of water for cities, Qom, Delijan, Mahallat,
Khomein and Golpaygan. This tunnel is totally 35.7 km long with 3.8 m inside diameter
that is performing in four phases with roughly 9 km long.
One of the parameters which are took into account as costs of project is the cost of
cutters. To estimate this cost should predicted the cutter rings life. Here, we explain
many factors, such as geology and machine characteristics, which impress on cutters
life. Then, we try to predict the cutters life and the cost of cutter per one meter of
advance in different units of Qomrud water transfer tunnel, phases 1&2.
Keywords: Qomrud water transfer tunnel; cutter disc; cutter ring life
